Top of Bolton Valley

A phone call early Tuesday morning woke me up so I decided to go to the mountain early.  It was one of those days after a storm where there wasn't a cloud in the sky.  I got up to the lift around 8:30, strapped on my board and hopped on the quad.  It was the holiday season but there was hardly anyone up there yet.    At the top it was -4 degrees and windy... COLD!

Best Sports Photos of 2010

Vermont Women's Basketball

What a difference a year makes.  With a whole new coaching staff and a lot of new or inexperienced players, the lady Catamounts are poised to go from there best season ever last year (won the America East Championship and upset Wisconsin in the first round of the NCAA Tournament) to the worst year ever.  The season has just started and so far it is not looking to good.  Hopefully, they can get into some kind of groove this year.

Boston College vs Vermont

Vermont and Boston College squared off at Gutterson Fieldhouse this weekend.  Boston took the first game 3-2 on Friday night and Vermont won 5-3 in the second game on Saturday.

Basketball Begins

Vermont hosted St. Michaels at Patrick Gym on Saturday afternoon in last preseason game.

"Punkins" and Pinatas

On Saturday we are having a Fiesta Party (Day of the Dead) and decided to carve some "punkins" and make a skull pinata.  After some house cleaning Harper and Laura got to making the pinata.

After the first layer of newspaper was on the balloon, we put it by the fire and Harper got to carving the first "punkin."

Can't wait for the roasted seeded...Hmmmm!

 Yummy!

Harper first drew her design on a piece of paper then transferred it to the pumpkin.

We got out the drill and she drilled holes all over it.

Emergency Photo Shoot

"You have to do an emergency photoshoot!" Those are the words I woke up to as my partner jumped on me in bed the other day.  Our friend Lupe (above) is applying for survivor and the amazing race.  Well, the agency that is responsible for hiring for these shows call her up that morning and said they needed some head and body shots of her so they can put together a profile.  Oh yeah, and they needed the photos by 7:00pm.

I had recently gotten some new stands and umbrellas for my speedlights so I was excited to use them.  This would give me the perfect opportunity.  We went over to Lupe's house in the afternoon to do the shoot.  When I got there I realized that the new equipment was in the Truck that Laura took to work.  I quickly called her and luckily she was getting out of work and would bring them right over.

I took a few portraits inside but that wasn't really working so we headed out into the yard.  Lupe has a beautiful house with a barn, animals and plenty of land.  After working around the yard a little, I decided to shoot some photos by the barn.

Laura stands in as my model so that I can test the lights.

We had a lot fun doing the shoot and a nice dinner afterward.  Let's hope that she gets on one of the shows.  She says that if she wins I get a new camera... Go Lupe!
