Iona vs. Vermont Men's Basketball 12/17/11

 Desperately needing a win, the Vermont Catamounts played host to the second highest scoring team in the nation, the Iona Gaels, at Patrick Gym on Saturday afternoon December 17, 2011 in Burlington, Vermont.

   Coming into the game the Cats had lost their last four straight games but despite a strong showing by the Cats, Iona hung onto the win 73-72.

  Before the game, Vermont retired the jersey of former Catamount Trevor Gaines #45 in a ceremony that featured a presentation of his Jersey to his surviving family members and his banner hosted into the rafters.  Several of Vermont's former basketball players were on hand for the ceremonies as well as coach Tom Brennan.
